About Me
My name is Susan Snyder. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I received by teaching certification at Hood College. I have been teaching in Frederick County for nine years. Prior to teaching I was a stay at home mom to my daughter and helped my husband with his business. Prior to that, I worked for IBM for 12 years. I am currently taking graduate classes at Hood College. I have been teaching Kindergarten at Centerville since the first year we opened. Working with your children is the best job in the world!
Volunteering We love having parents to volunteer in our school. Please attend a volunteer orientation if you have never volunteered in our school. (For information on volunteer orientation, please call the main office on 240-566-0100.)In my classroom I use volunteers to help students that need extra support, students that need above grade level challenges, preparing materials for future lessons, to listen to students read after reading group. and crowd control. Please be mindful that you will be in our classroom to help ALL students. Students may not hang on you, sit on your lap, or cry when you leave. If you think that your child cannot follow those rules, please think about volunteering later in the year. What our day looks like! Kindergarten is all day in Frederick County. Here is an outline of our day! 9:00-11:10 Language Arts 11:10-11:45 Lunch 11:45-12:10 Recess 12:10-12:30 Science or Social Studies 12:30-1:10 Specials* 1:10-2:30 Calendar and Math 2:30-3:10 Application Centers 3:10-3:25 Clean up and dismissal We go to the library on Wednesdays and Computer Lab on Thursdays. *Specials-Art, Music, PE On Mondays, we double specals, so we start calendar and Math after recess. At 2 o'clock we start Specials and dismiss students from there. Our specials schedule is: Monday-PE and Music Tuesday-Music Wednesday-PE Thursday-Art Friday-Art
